Charles Carr (bishop of Killaloe)
Charles Carr (1672 - 1739) was an Irish Anglican clergyman:〔“A New History of Ireland” by Theodore William Moody, F. X. Martin, Francis John Byrne, Art Cosgrove: Oxford, Oxford University Press, 1976 ISBN 0-19-821745-5〕 he was Bishop of Killaloe from 1716to 1739.〔Fryde, E. B.; Greenway, D. E.; Porter, S.; Roy, I. (1986). Handbook of British Chronology (Third Edition, revised ed.). Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. p. 407. ISBN 0-521-56350-X.〕
He was born in Donore, County Kildare and educated at Trinity College, Dublin.〔"Alumni Dublinenses : a register of the students, graduates, professors and provosts of Trinity College in the University of Dublin (1593-1860)" Burtchaell, George Dames/Sadleir, Thomas Ulick (Eds) p354: Dublin, Alex Thom and Co, 1935〕 The Chaplain of The King's Hospital,〔"Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae: The succession of the prelates Volume 1" Cotton,H. p 469 Dublin, Hodges & Smith, 1848-1878〕 he became Vicar of Kilkea in 1701. He was also Chaplain of the Irish House of Commons. He was consecrated Bishop of Killaloe in June 1716. He died in Dublin on 26 December 1739; and was buried at St Patrick's Cathedral in that city.
